I had lunch here with a friend two weeks ago, it was very enjoyable, the food was fantastic and the service was wonderful. I don't understand all the poor reviews unless those have spurred on a change at the restaurant for the better. The only thing I didn't like was finding the parking lot. I'd never been there before and my Garmin didn't sync with it. Parking is fine once you actually find the parking lot!

All you can say for this place is the view is great. If you want decent service, don't try this place. If you want good food then go somewhere else. Have a drink on the deck then go across the street to My MaMa's or down the road to Hot Tails. If you must eat here then stick with the fried seafood but even that is marginal and inconsistent.

My understanding is that Satterfield's is a New Roads institution. The restaurant/bar is situated at the edge of False River so you have amazing views of the water while you dine. We gathered with friends for cocktails on the lower level. On Friday evenings local talent is showcased so the music, while good, is fairly loud. During this time, the bar area is not conducive for good conversation. There is a little room for dancing, if that's your fancy. Drinks are reasonably priced but the mixed ones that I ordered were very weak and served in a large styrofoam cup with lots of ice. We also ordered appetizers: fried cheese, mushrooms and onion rings. There were ok, not really memorable. I did like the fact that they serve what I'd call "shoestring" onion rings and I found them better than the typical, thick variety. Overall, this is a decent enough place to go if you're looking for cheap entertainment on a humid Friday night. Based on what I sampled, I would not return for lunch or dinner.

I really enjoyed my meal at Satterfield's. I had the crawfish pie. It was a slice of cajun heaven found on the banks of the false river.

We waited for over an hour for two salads. We could not wait any longer and just had to leave and cancel. No drink refills. The worst was that there was no apology. Btw, there were only 8 tables seated. I should have read the other reviews first. What a waste of time. Go to Merot's next door for better food and service. I would have given a "0" star if offered.

We went to Satterfield's for our Valentine's Day Dinner Date with the kids - ages 6, 4 and 4. Then I immediately signed up for Yelp to leave this review. Let's start off by saying that they handed us a crayon box for the kids that inadvertently had a razor blade stuck to it. Yes, you read that right. And with little more than a "sorry," their response left a lot to be desired. The view in the dining room is beautiful, looking out over the lake. They also have a nice patio for when the weather is nice. The service left a lot to be desired. We were one of 3 tables in the place, and we still waited way too long to place our order. I was not impressed by the menu - I believe there were about 4 non-seafood options. (I'm not a big seafood fan.) When we received our food, it was far from hot. It was warm enough, but it definitely had been sitting for a bit. And beyond this, it was just overpriced - plain and simple. The food wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't worth the price with everything above factored in. We won't be back.

Yep, I signed up for yelp just to leave this review. We waited for an hour and never received our starter salads. The waiter apologized about 30 minutes in and we never saw her or the manager again. It was 1:30PM on a Sunday, and the place was not busy.

Food was good, and service was reasonable. Nice view and outside dinning. Will be back.

This place has a nice view but food that is over priced and not very good the boudin balls are like a very mushy rice dressing or something . The fried shrimp are decent but decent at best but for 18 $ they should be better maybe a little bigger as well , wont be back

Mombo platter consisted of fried catfish, oysters and shrimp. Food was very good after a long bike ride from Lafayette.

Great view. Service was a disaster, took forever and our waiter kept forgetting our order. I thought the food was just fine. Nothing special but certainty not horrible.

You go to Satterfields for the view and maybe a cheap glass of wine. The food is absolutely awful and the service is slow. There is a clear lack of attention to detail. My parents have lived in New Roads for years. Everyone in town knows that if you want a good meal, then go across the street to "Ma Mamas Kitchen", instead. If you want a good view of the sunset, then try Satterfields.

This place is horrible! The server was very clueless , when I asked about a dish she tried to explain it then said she really didnt know. So she asked someone. When I got my food it was NOTHING like described and tasted horrible. I sent it back. My husbands steak had NO flavor! Won't be going back ever!

Probably the most well-known place on False River. The view is absolutely fantastic. It is not a fine dining type of place and the food is certainly above par. Make sure you get there early to get outdoor seating. Also don't forget the bar downstairs, it can get a bit wild at night time!

Satterfield's has some of the best food on False River. In addition to a parking lot with a boat launch next door to the restaurant, there are also a series of docks to park your boat at. This restaurant has a nice dining room and a very nice outdoor seating area, both featuring beautiful vistas of False River. The food here, mostly Louisiana cuisine, is divine. Even the stuff on the Kids' Menu is good! If you're in New Roads or on False River, you should eat here!

The view is great and the server was attentive. The food however was really terrible - everything tasted of nothing but salt. $65 for lunch and we left food on the plate - never coming back.
